Winter Bulldog Care Tips
A review on the do's and don'ts on caring for a bulldog over the winter month.
Did you know most bulldogs are lost during winter months than any other time of the year? To ensure the safety of your bulldog, during the harsh winter months, try these bulldog care recommendations:

Bloodhounds have dewlaps. What are dewlaps? They are strange looking, pendulous folds of skin on the back of the neck. They don't seem to serve any useful purpose to the bloodhound, but are rather interesting to look at.
Always make sure your bulldog's ID tag is properly affixed before heading out into the great outdoors.

The boxer breed was so named for his manner of fighting. As opposed to biting, like most dogs would, a boxer will actually begin a fight by "punching" with its front paws, just liek a human boxer.
Following a heavy snow or during extreme conditions that may induce ice, never allow your bulldog to roam freely without a leash. It's easy for a canine to fall through ice or stumble across other potentially dangerous incidents.

The tibetan terrier is not a true terrier and is probably more closely related to the lhasa apso. However, the tibetan terrier is indeed from Tibet, where monks once treasured this intelligent breed of dogs as guardians of their temples.
In the winter, DOGS with long hair do not require shaving. Their coat can provide the warmth they need to stay comfortably. Remember to completely dry your canine after giving it a bath during the winter months.

The Saluki is represented in Sumarian carvings dated back to 7000 B.C. It is said that Whenever one sees the word "dog" in the Bible it means the Saluki, because the Saluki is believed to be among the oldest dog breeds.
Never leave an unattended bulldog in a vehicle during a wintry, blustery day. Leaving a bulldog or cat alone in the car is tantamount to leaving a canine in a refrigerator or freezer, increasing the possibility of your pet freezing to death.

Many people will swear that they own a golden labrador. The problem is that golden labradors do not exist! There is no purebred dog called a golden lab. The dog is probably either a golden retriever or a labrador retriever.
Canines with short-hair may require a sweater or coat to keep them warm. Look for bulldoggie ware that covers the neck to as least the base of the belly or tail. (in example turtleneck or a high collar)

Lhasa Apsos are small, long-haired dogs. Believe it or not, they were originally used by monks to guard temples. This accounts for their quiet and friendly nature, which can easily change if their owners or home are threatened.

The boxer breed was so named for his manner of fighting. As opposed to biting, like most dogs would, a boxer will actually begin a fight by "punching" with its front paws, just liek a human boxer.
Prior to bringing your bulldog in from icy, snowy or wet and cold weather, be sure to thoroughly wipe off its paws, legs and stomach. Since many canines groom themselves by licking their stomach, legs or paws be sure to wipe them thoroughly. Salt and antifreeze may be potentially fatal when ingested. Not to mention, paw pads may bleed from both snow and encrusted ice.

The Broholmer is a breed that is recognized only in Denmark. It was thought extinct in the 1960's but, in December of 1974, a purebred Broholmer popped up in Finland. This dog was a male, and the owners hoped to find a female for him to mate with, but it never happened. While still recognized as a breed, an example has yet to appear again.
