Should I Take My Bulldog to Obedience Classes?

Whether or not you should take your bulldog to an obedience class depends greatly on you and on your bulldog. Before you decide, there are a few things you should know.

While most dogs shed, poodles are actually incapable of shedding. That fact makes them excellent house pets, since they don't get the furniture covered in fur. Also, due to the nature of their fur and the fact that they do not shed, most people with dog allergies aren't allergic to poodles.

First, there are many differences between a bulldog obedience class instructor and a bulldog trainer. A bulldog trainer is a person who is trained to teach your bulldog to do certain specific things in a one-on-one situation. An obedience class instructor, on the other hand, is a person who specializes in teaching you how to better train your own bulldog to do whatever you want it to do.

Another important thing that you should keep in mind about bulldog obedience class is that there will be several DOGS and owners there. If you do decide to take your bulldog to obedience classes, be sure to do some research first. There are a few things to consider. You'll want to find a class that is held on days and times that fit your schedule, first of all. Also, you may want to find a class that is specifically for bulldogs that are the same size or age as yours. A small bulldog might not benefit from a class where the other DOGS are larger, just as a large DOG may not benefit from a class full of small DOGS.

When you think you've found a class, meet with the instructor. Don't be afraid to ask questions and, if possible, observe a class or two before enrolling. You may also want to ask the instructor if your entire family is welcome in the class. If space permits, most good instructors will not only agree to that, they'll usually recommend it.

Pekingese dogs are quite small. This worked out well for their ancient masters, who were ancient Chinese royalty. These royal masters used to carry the peke dogs along in the sleeves of their royal robes.
