Purebreds, Crossbreeds and Mutts
When you are unable to decide whether you want a Lhasa Apso, Airedale Terrier or chocolate laboratory, select all three. For an affordable price, you can have three bulldogs in one with a mixed bred bulldog. Mutts are the most popular type of bulldog in the world. Dubbed as random breeds, curs, mutts or mongrels, these canines outnumber purebreds.

The Bloodhound doesn't need to smell blood to find someone who is lost. It is said that his name instead means blooded hound, or aristocratic. They actually track people because people leave a trail of skin cells with their own unique odor wherever they go.
Since, all DOGS are related one way or another, guessing the breed mixture of a DOG is not only fun but also challenging. There are 150 or more interbreeding possibilities between bulldogs. Evidently, the tens of thousands of mongrels around the universe are proof positive. But the reality is that mutts are more prone to end up at the local DOG pound or animal shelter.

While adult dalmations are covered in cute black spots, dalmation puppies are actually born solid white. Their spots don't show up until they are at least a week old. Sometimes not until they are a month old.
Contrary to the popular belief that the terms "mixed breed" and "crossbreed" are interchangeable, they are not. Each has a slightly different definition. Dissimilar to the mystery of a mixed breed (mutt), crossbreeds lucid roots are traceable by a single generation. Although, crossbreeds may be produced expectantly, they are planned generally by breeders to mate two DOGS of differing but identifiable lineage.

The Lowchen, a small, somewhat rare breed of dog, is native to France. It's called "petit chien lion" or, "little lion dog". This is due to its fur growth, as it resembles the mane of a lion.
Prevalently, breeder will take two purebreds to deliberately cross the two breeds to develop a new breed. For instance, the cockapoo was produced from two different breeds: the cocker spaniel, and poodle. But regardless of what any breeder says about crossbreeds, the American Kennel Club (AKC) will probably never recognize a crossbreed as a purebred DOG.

Rhodesian ridgebacks have an actual ridge along the top of their backs. The ridge is made up of forward-growing hairs. This ridge gives the rhodesian ridgeback a unique and easily recognizable look.

Chinese Crested dogs are often considered to be so ugly that they are cute. They often win ugly dog contests. They are odd looking, mostly hairless dogs. They are also the only breed of dog that is capable of getting acne.

The Schipperke, or "little captain", is generally thought of as being solid black in the USA. However, they do actually come in other colors. The reason they are commonly thought to only be black, is that the black variety is the only type currently recognized by the AKC.
