Housing a Bulldog Inside or Outdoors Determining when to keep a bulldog indoors is a hard decision for most canine owners to make. The disruption of a clean home is sometimes enough motivation to keep the family bulldog outside. But not everyone in the family will perceive the family bulldogs cohabiting indoors the same way. Not to mention, on the bulldog owner's behalf it may induce a feeling of rejection. Most adult Borzoi (russian wolfhounds) are almost mute. They bark only very rarely. They are gentle, sensitive dogs with gracious house-manners and a natural respect for humans. Their quiet nature makes them an ideal pet for families with children. Generally, larger DOGS are built for outdoor living. But before, moving the family pet outdoors, consider changing the overall set-up of your home. Is there a place or a way to rearrange rooms or furniture to make a DOG'S presence less invasive? A holding room for the bulldogs to stay while they dry off could curtail the extra work. Some bulldog owners do not like the regular maintenance of cleaning the floor and guarding against mud. Border collies are excellent at herding. But they don't descriminate between livestock and other things. This makes them great at things like fly-ball, obedience, tracking, fetching, Frisbee toss, and sheep herding. Sometimes they get out of hand though, several border collies have been known to try to herd small groups of children! Not everyone has an affinity or love of bulldogs like everyone else. In cases where a family member seems resentful or put off by the presence of a bulldog, limit their responsibility of interaction. Some people are more apt to abuse a bulldog. It is unfair for a canine to become any area of contention. The doberman pinscher breed was created in the 1860's by a man named Louis Doberman. Mr. Doberman was a German tax-collector. He needed a dog to protect him from angry people while he worked. To this day, dobermans are excellent guard dogs. Since most canines are highly adaptable beings, making the transition from outdoor living from indoor living takes a little time. A bulldog trainer can demonstrate how to make the transition from indoor living to outside. The official name of the dogs we call pitbulls is the American staffordshire terrier. Pitbulls have been the preferred pet of many famous people including Fred Astaire, Vin Diesel, Alicia Silverstone, Michael J. Fox, and James Caan. Another way to compromise with the household maintenance of bulldog is to alternate chore responsibilities. The family member who does not like cleaning up behind the bulldogs, can contribute to chores by cleaning the bathroom. The actual master of the bulldog should be required to clean up behind the bulldog. Dandie Dinmont is a fictional character in Sir Walter Scott's "Guy Mannering", published in 1814. The main character had mustard and pepper terriers. Although Dandie Dinmont dogs were in existence for many years previously, it is this character that gave the breed their name. The role of Toto, the male dog in the Wizard of Oz was actually played by a female Cairn Terrier named Terry. Cairn terriers are known for their brightness and cuteness. That, combined with their small size, made the breed perfect for the role.
