Bulldog Walk Checklist

Being a new bulldog owner is similar to taking on the parenting role of a newborn. With time, you learn what you need to simplify your care on outings. To fast-forward your learning curve, we have created a checklist of items for your bulldog as well as yourself � before you head to the bulldoggie park.



Pekingese dogs were sacred to the emperors of China for more than 2,000 years. They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs in the world. Commoners in Imperial China were forbidden to own Pekingese dogs.


Wear dark clothing to avoid the potential of permanently staining whites and cackie colored clothing.



St. bernards have a well-deserved reputation as rescue dogs. In fact, the most successful mountain rescue dog ever was a st. bernard. His name was Barry. He lived during the early 1800's, during which time he saved 40 lives.


Always carry a cellular phone to call for help in the event of an accident. Your cell phone may come in handy for you to contact your family if you will be out longer than planned.



The first living being to travel in space was a small mixed breed dog named Laika, who gave her life orbiting the earth in the Russian Sputnik in 1957. John F. Kennedy's terrier, Charlie, sired 4 puppies with Laika's daughter, Pushinka.


Carry a sport bottle, bowl or both for your bulldog to quench its thirst. (A bowl of water works too. Simply carry a water bottle to fill the bowl up). Duty bags are necessary in most municipalities.



Male Irish wolfhounds are usually at least 32 to 34 inches tall and females are usually around 30 inches tall. This makes the Irish wolfhound the tallest breed. Although a few other dogs, such as the great dane, come close to equalling that height.


For fast cleanups, bring towels or handiwipes to tidy up your bulldog�s dirty paws. As an alternate, place covers on your car seats to prevent the spread of dirt.



The springer spaniel breed is well-known for having very high energy levels. In fact, the "spring" in "springer spaniel" referred to this dog's ability to spring out at, or startle game. They are excellent hunting dogs.


To ensure your safety and ability to keep up with your bulldog, wear shoes or fitness shoes to maintain your balance during bad weather conditions, harsh terrain, or a rigorous canine. (Try to keep a spare pair of gloves in your car as a back up incase your shoes are too wet or muddy to wear)



The basenji could really be considered more like a cat than a dog. Not only is it the only breed of dog that does not bark, but is also a meticulous cleaner. Unlike other dogs, the basenji actually licks itself clean, just like a cat!


For those adorable moments, your bulldog makes a statement, have your camera on hand to snap a photo.



Chow Chows have very unusual mouths. When they are born they look normal enough. However, by the age of about 8 weeks, their gums and tongues go from pink to an odd shade of bluish-black.


Do not bring your bulldog�s favorite toys to the park since it most likely will be lost to another bulldog.



Paul McCartney, of Beatles fame, was very fond of his shetland sheepdog. In fact, at the end of the song "A Day in the Life" Mr. McCartney inserted an ultrasonic whistle, audible only to dogs, for his shetland sheepdog.


Make note of any potential dangers your bulldog may encounter with plastic bags so you can prevent any harm.



Beagles are known to be extremely social and cheerful dogs. They are expected to be so friendly that, even in dog shows, the judges expect them to be happy. They have points removed in the judging if they look to be unhappy.
