Can a Good Bulldog be Found in DOG Shelters?
Many people feel like shelter bulldogs are not as good as other DOGS. They feel that shelter bulldogs are often there because they are sick or vicious or otherwise undesirable. The truth is, if you know what to look for, yes, a good bulldog can definitely be found at a DOG shelter.

Labrador retrievers, as their name indicates, were bred to retrieve things. However, most people think of them today as retrieving sticks, or other similar objects. In reality, they were originally bred to help fishermen by retrieving fishing nets!
There are actually quite a few advantages to adopting most shelter DOGS. First, many shelter DOGS are already housebroken. Second, unlike puppies, older shelter DOGS are already up to date on all of their shots and spayed or neutered. Third, many shelter DOGS already know a few basic commands, which makes them generally easier to train.

The boxer breed was so named for his manner of fighting. As opposed to biting, like most dogs would, a boxer will actually begin a fight by "punching" with its front paws, just liek a human boxer.
It's important to note that every shelter DOG is not suited for every family. Sometimes shelter employees do not know the full history of the bulldog. A bulldog that has been abused may react in odd ways to things that you, as the new owner, may not be aware of. There are some easy ways to avoid that and be sure that the bulldog you get is right for your family.

Schipperke is Flemmish for "little captain" and the name is appropriate because most schipperkes seem to act almost human. they are happy, intelligent and usually enjoy being the center of the universe around them.
First, examine the shelter itself. Make sure that you choose to adopt from a shelter where the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If the staff is unfriendly or the facility is unclean, choose another shelter.

French poodles were originally used as hunting dogs, but, because their thick coats proved a problem in the bush and water, their owners started clipping them. They left hair on the ankles to protect against rheumatism, which is why poodles sometimes appear to have unusual haircuts.
Also, if possible, get the complete history of the bulldog. Ask where it came from and how it got there. The history of the bulldog will tell you a lot about its personality.

The greyhound is the fastest breed of dog. It is capable of running at speeds of around 45 miles per hour. Greyhounds are excellent for hunting and racing, but they are notorious for laziness, often preferring to cuddle on a couch, rather than run. This makes them an ideal house pet.
Whether you can get the bulldog's history or not, it's good to just observe all of the DOGS at the shelter. Visit the shelter a couple of times with the whole family. Observe how the DOGS react to each family member. That will be a good indication of things to come.

While many people think of Boxers as aggressive, they are actually great with children. They were bred to be hunters, yes, but they were bred to corner prey, not kill it. As a result, they are protective, yet patient.
By following this simple advice, as well as your own instincts, you can easily find a fabulous shelter DOG.
